Flowerbed Weed Control

We provide an annual service that includes 4 pre-emergent applications to prevent weeds from germinating and post-emergent for those weeds that have broken through.

In our area, nutsedge and Bermuda grass are common problems in ornamental beds. There is no pre-emergent that can prevent this from happening. They can be sprayed with post-emergent, but they will come back. Regular applications of post-emergent herbicides will help.

Weeds thrive in areas with excessive water. Sedges and annual weeds cannot be controlled in areas that are overwatered. Wherever possible convert overhead sprinklers to drip irrigation.

FLOWERBED SERVICES INCLUDE:

  • 4 pre-emergent applications

  • 8 post-emergent applications
    (with regular lawn service)

  • Recommendations on cultural practices

  • A detailed invoice with materials used

  • Free service calls for post-emergent

WEED CONTROL IN UNDEVELOPED AREAS
We provide weed control in undeveloped areas that receive no irrigation two times a year. Usually applied in the spring and winter these treatments will keep out grasses, weeds, and other vegetation that creates a fire hazard.

Tree & Shrub Care

DEEP ROOT FERTILIZATION
We provide deep-root fertilization in the spring and fall for all your trees and shrubs that will benefit from the program. The fertilizer is injected into the soil at the root zone where it is immediately available to the plant. We use slow-release fertilizer that provides the trees and shrubs with nutrients for several months for improved appearance and healthy growth.

SYSTEMIC INSECTICIDE
We provide Systemic insecticide treatments for the control of insects that attack trees, shrubs, and roses. Pests such as lace bugs, aphids, whiteflies, and scale are controlled with a single application for season-long control in the Spring. The insecticide is applied to the soil below the tree and shrubs. The plant’s root system picks up the material and moves it throughout the tree or shrub.

FOLIAR FERTILIZATION
Our foliar treatment consists of a poly coated balanced fertilizer that last about 6 months. This treatment replaces a deep root fertilizer service and is more suited for annuals, bi annuals and similar perennials.

FULLER ROSE BEETLE TREATMENT

We apply a plant based contact insecticide that lasts about 30 days. Follow up treatments are available upon request.

SUBSURFACE GRUB PREVENTATIVE CONTROL
Grubs are larvae from beetles that lay their eggs in the spring and hatch in early summer. The larvae then feed on the grass roots until the plant can no longer sustain the damage and then dies. Unfortunately, it is too late at this stage to kill the grub! Only preventable systemic treatments when the eggs hatch will control a grub infestation. It is nearly impossible other than treating the lawn with a preventative insect control every year to control the population once it starts.

AQUEDUCT SOIL CONDITIONER
Aqueduct is the most effective tool to treat and promote the recovery of turf under stress due to existing water-related problems such as wet spots or dry spots. Aqueduct reduces the potential for wilt and turf grass stress and enhances the recovery of turf by improving the distribution of applied water in the soil profile

LAWN DISEASE TREATMENTS
There are many types of lawn diseases that occur in lawns. Your technician will identify what type of disease your lawn has. Most treatments require two applications 14-21 days apart to be effective. Soil-born fungus i.e. Pythium needs to be treated every year.

Other Services

OVERSEEDING/RENOVATION
Overseeding can bring an old lawn new life. Turf that has deteriorated from disease, insects damage, thatch build up, or undesirable grass types, can be revitalized with
overseeding.

We have a proven method of overseeding. It may be as simple as aeration and overseed, or a complete renovation, which kills off all existing turf and replants new drought tolerant seed types. Best time to get an over-seed quote is in the late summer/early fall.

LAWN INSECTS TREATMENT
Surface insecticide treatments are included in our lawn care program for our existing customer base. There is a charge for a new customer that is starting the program with an insect infestation.

NUTSEDGE TREATMENT

There are no pre-emergent controls for nutsedge, but we can schedule 4 additional post-emergent treatments to help control the spread of the plant in the springtime. Once the temperatures reach over 90 degrees in the summer, we can no longer treat for nutsedge without damaging the lawn.

AERATION
Aeration is one of the most important cultural practices available to your lawn. It opens up the soil to relieve compaction, reduces thatch, and allows water and fertilizer down to the plants root zone where it is needed.

Regular aeration encourages new root growth. Performed annually in the fall with reseeding is the Right Rx for a thicker, greener lawn.
